Director, Aircraft Operations,

Flight Program Operations,

Air Traffic Operations,

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

The Aircraft Operations Directorate consists of four distinct missions using 46 aircraft. The DCA Flight Operations at Hangar 6, Washington’s Reagan International Airport, provides transportation to government officials and the National Transportation Safety Board’s (NTSB) Go-Team; Flight Inspection (six U.S. locations) ensures the integrity of instrument approaches and airway procedures that constitute our National Airspace System (NAS) infrastructure and the FAA’s international commitments including the Department of Defense (DoD). This is accomplished through the airborne inspection of all space and ground-based instrument flight procedures and the validation of electronic signals in space that are transmitted from various navigation systems. The Aviation Safety Aircraft Group at Ft. Worth Alliance airport provides flight training for Aviation Safety Inspectors and Atlantic City Flight Operations Research and Development tests new technologies at Atlantic City’s William J. Hughes Technical Center. Finally, the Aviation Technology Group manages configuration services for the 46-aircraft fleet to include mission systems and aircraft avionics upgrades. They also manage UAS operations. Test pilots work within an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) to develop Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for the fleet and other government flight program customers.
