He was graduated as Safety Engineer, with a focus on Traffic Safety, at the University of Wuppertal in 1995. Since 2004 he holds a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Wuppertal. Before he joined DFS he worked for 16 years in various positions in the field of Ergonomics and Human-Systems Integration at the FGAN Research Institute for Communication, Information Processing, and Ergonomics (FKIE) Wachtberg, Germany, and the RWTH Aachen University, Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics Aachen, Germany.

In 2009 he started as Project Manager in DFS, initially in the SES ATM Research Programme (SESAR), later he managed various projects related to the implementation of Free Rote Airspace in Germany. From 2014 until 2020 he was responsible for ATM concept development at DFS, in this role he also acted as Work Package Manager “Target Concept and Architecture” in the SESAR Programme from 2014 to 2016.

End of 2020 he was appointed as Head of Navigation Services at DFS. In this role he is responsible for the product management of both terrestrial and satellite-based navigation services as well as for technical services like flight inspection and ANS facilities’ protection. Nominated by Germany he is a Member of the ICAO Navigation Systems Panel (ICAO NSP).
